After performing at the Bo'ness Hill Climb on Saturday the 10th the season finished on a high note for Bo'ness Pipe Band on Sunday the 11th at Peebles Highland Games. The drummers excellent run continued when we took the drumming prise and also the Champion of Champions for Drumming in the Lothian & Borders Branch. Both the Pipe major Colin McCluckie and Leading Drummer Jocky McLean were delighted with the bands' performances this season and will be hoping to start working in the closed season towards the new season when we will compete in a higher grade.

Update 4th September 2011

 From the Bo'ness Journal

Bo’ness  Pipebands drummers have proved they are world-beaters, securing global glory at the show piece event in their competition calendar. The drum corp were crowned world champions in their Grade 4B and the band as a whole was just points away from being named international stars in the same category.
Pipemajor Colin McCluckie led the Bo’ness musicians in their best performance to date at the prestigious championships that attracted 40,000 spectators, 8000 bandsmen and women and 16 nations to Glasgow Green. “It was a brilliant experience, everyone was jumping about,” he said. “I’m just really proud that they put in the hard work to manage to actually achieve this. It’s really hard to get any prize at the World Championships. They did themselves proud”
Medley magic secured the title for the 13 Bo’ness drummers- headed by Jockie McLean after the band had sailed though the qualifying heat in the morning.
Bo’ness  Pipeband were competing against rivals from Northern Ireland, Canada, Germany, the Republic of Ireland, Scotland and England in a 12 strong  finals field. Just  3 points split the top four bands, with Bo’ness being narrowly nudged into fourth spot by an ensemble preference after tying in third place with 13 points behind winners Closkelt.
The band came second at the Scottish Championships, with the drum corp winning first prize, and the band and drum corp both finished second at the British Championships.
The youngest member is 13 and the oldest is 76. “We’ll  be in Grade 4A now. It gets harder but hopefully the success this season will push us on.”
